LAHORE: A man has reportedly leveled false blasphemy charges against his in-laws, The Express Tribune has learnt. The victims of this smear campaign say it has become impossible for them to live in society after a false impression was created about them over the internet.
The petitioner reached a district and sessions court, seeking a case against his sister’s husband and in laws, who according to him, had not only launched a blasphemy campaign on social media against his family members, but has also issued death threats.
The petitioner said the accused started inciting people against the family by claiming the family had committed blasphemy.
He added friends and neighbours later started approaching the family, asking about these allegations. Asif stated they were put in a position where they had to convince people they had done no harm.
Asif said the accused had ruined their life and launched a smear campaign with two accomplices.
He prayed the court to ordered the FIA director to register a case under the relevant cyber crime laws. The judge sought comments from the director by July 25.
