Jakarta - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) is urged to facilitate or grant access to Ahmadiyah members in Kuningan, West Java, to have electronic ID cards (e-KTP).

"The Ahmadiyya congregation has been in Indonesia since 1928, and has played a part in the independence of the Republic of Indonesia," said Moderate Muslim Society Chairman Zuhairi Misrawi quoted Antara, Sunday (6/8).

According to the Nahdatul Ulama youth leader, Ahmadiyah members have also played a role in strengthening national solidarity and humanitarian work.

"In fact, donors of Indonesian Ahmadiyah members got a world record," he added.

Zuhairi added that at this point in many other areas, Ahmadiyah citizens do not have difficulty obtaining electronic ID cards.

"They are only complications in Manislor, Kuningan, West Java, and certainly the Regent of Kuningan and Dukcapil Kemendagri Kuningan do not complicate electronic ID cards," he said.

Ahmadiyah followers are listed in 200 countries, including in Indonesia. They spread friendly, moderate, and tolerant Islam.

Therefore, Zuhairi said, discriminatory and intimidating treatment is regrettable.

"Therefore, I urge Dukcapil Kemendagri Kuningan to immediately provide e-KTP for the Ahmadiyah Manislor," he said.
