MONROE, WA - The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is looking for tips to find the people responsible for vandalizing a mosque near Monroe. On Friday, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community mosque found "F--K U" sprayed on the side of the building.

The graffiti was discovered by members of the mosque when they went to the building on Friday to host a regular food bank. Snohomish County authorities believe the graffiti happened sometime between Sunday and Friday. Next to the expletive was a mess of yellow and black spray paint, which appeared to be a word or phrase that was crossed out.

"We will not tolerate any crimes motivated by prejudice in Snohomish County," Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary said in a statement Friday. "We are asking for the public's help to find who committed this hateful act and so we can bring them to justice."

Snohomish County police are trying to track down anyone who might've witnessed the vandalism. If you know anything, contact the sheriff's office anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.

The Stroum Jewish Community Center on Mercer Island was the target of a bomb threat in late February. In March, Temple De Hersch Sinai in Seattle was tagged with holocaust-denying graffiti.

At the end of 2016, the Muslim Association of Puget Sound mosque in Redmond was vandalized twice. In January, a mosque in Bellevue was burned down in an arson fire.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community mosque is located along Old Owen Road/148th Street Southeast in Monroe, just north of US 2.
