The Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria (MKAN) held its annual national Majlis Shoora (Consultative Meeting) on October 21st, 2017, at its national headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. According to the Constitution of the organisation, the shoora is a platform through which the leadership of the organisation at different levels of its administration come together with the aim of sharing the report of the previous calendar year and brainstorm on the proposals for the incoming calendar year.
In his opening remarks, the Sadr (National President) of MKAN, Engr. Aina Saeed, said: “Firstly, I want to humbly extend my sincere appreciations to all MKAN members for the success of the 2017 Annual National Ijtema (convention) and the National Workshop / Economic Summit. These were possible due to the prayers of our beloved Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (ATBA), to all members of MKAN. Recently, the beloved Huzur prayed that: ‘May Allah Taalah be with you all, and grant MKAN all the strengths to carry out their responsibilities in the best possible manner.’ Likewise, “One of the major areas of this administration will focus on empowerment of members and investment in agricultural projects,” he added.
During the year under review, some of the giant strides of MKAN include: donation of 1,175 pints of blood; free medical camps / welfare expeditions for 530 beneficiaries; visitation and donation of gift items to over 500 inmates of prison yards, children at orphanage homes and patients at hospitals; launching of ‘Ask Me About Islam’ project; organisation of over 100 counselling sessions for intending couples; planting and nurturing of 1,100 trees at different parts of the country; organisation of 27 events to disseminate the message of ‘Stop The Crime’ campaign; organisation of a ride for peace project, covering a total of 140Km across the country, among others.
In addition to the above, MKAN was also able to: organise the first world-class economic summit; organisation of a national annual Ijtema which attracted 3,064 participants; hold the first annual seminar for the members of Majlis Ansar Sultanul Qalam (Muslim Writers’ Guide of Nigeria); organise numerous community development services across the country; open MKAN online store (www.khuddam.ng/shop); unveil a new dynamic and information rich website; upload the current and past editions of the organisation’s magazines and bulletins online; embark on 5 International trips to Equatorial Guinea, Tanzania, Republic of Benin, Ghana and Germany. Through the tabligh efforts of MKAN, 160 people joined the fold of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at.
While the rate of youth restiveness is on increase, members of MKAN have continued to rise their heads above their peers in terms of community development services, human capital development and spreading the true message of Islam. These untiring efforts have earned the organisation numerous awards from corporate bodies, communities, government and non-governmental organisations.
