Nigeria: Ahmadiyya Jammat Seeks Resuscitation of Moral Values

No fewer than 35, 000 Muslim faithful recently gathered at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria 65th Islamic Conference, Jalsa Salana, to chart path to resuscitating the moral values and reverse the negative trend through proper orientation.

The three-day event featured academic awards given to 37 deserving males and females in various disciplines. 5 PhD holders, 11 Master's Degrees, 19 First Degrees and 2 A' Level holders and marriage solemnization for about 20 couples.

The Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at, Nigeria, Dr Mashhud Adenrele Fashola, challenged the religious and political leaders in the world to respect and practice the commandments of God in governance and justice administration.

"No human efforts or activities of any government agency or world leaders can solve the quagmire, rather all leaders and followers must imbibe the divine teachings, commandments and laws with a view to living in peaceful and just society".

Fashola, said it is until man reforms himself, Allah's blessings and mercy would continue to desert him, stressing the need for justice to prevail in interactions with other people so that their perceptions about Islam can change totally.

Governorship aspirant of People's Democratic Party (PDP), Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, who commended the group, urged religious organization to continue to educate people on the value needed to maintain high level of values.

"This has broken down in Nigeria's value system and it is highly responsible for the challenges we are encountering in our environment today," he said.

He said, that the problem and challenges in the country today is centered around the capacity of our leaders and lost in our value system.

Grandkadi, Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Salihu Muhammad, commended the organization for its huge contributions towards the growth and development of education in Nigeria.

Naib Amir, South-West of Nigeria, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Alatoye said: "Social, Political and Economic Emancipation through Moral Re-Orientation", said the world is structurally retarding in social, political and economic ideological values owing to our failure to adhere to justice, noting that justice is crucial to the survival of mankind."

Alatoye said, "for our social, economic and political lives to be enhanced and experienced peace, we have to retrace our steps back to the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. The world cannot become an abode of peace until mankind adheres to justice. Justice is crucial to the survival of mankind, this is because when injustice, tyranny and oppression take hold, certain social evils are born and these are capable of destroying a whole nation"

National Tabligh Secretary Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, Dr. Saheed Timehin, during his lecture 'Islamic Concept of Morality' said sign of intellectual and emotional maturity for man is to develop morals.

"Man subjugation of the world and his success in asserting himself as Allah's vice-gerent depends on his ability to develop universal moral traits that are common to all cultures and civilisations of the world.

He said there is a dire need for a total reorientation of the Nigerian masses through a consciously planned and purpose driven ethical revolution, which is the main mission of the holy founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Mrs Kudirat Raji, said the marriage soleminisation during Jalsa has been in existence over time so many people prefer their marriage to be done in jalsa because of the blessing and prayers that will be offered for the couples.

She urged Nigerian youth to go for marriage instead of committing fornication. "We organize marriage counsel for our youth every month to get them prepare and reduce the rate of divorce in the community".

A bride, Adamson Rukayat said she was very happy and grateful today which is her wedding day and the reason why he prefer his welding in Jalsa is because the union will be blessed.
