The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Argentina distributed toys at Christmas in a children’s hospital in Buenos Aires. A gesture to build bridges of love and mutual understanding

Despite the fact that Muslims do not celebrate Christmas as a religious festival, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Argentina with the help of their friends distributed toys at Christmas in a children’s hospital in Buenos Aires. It is a fundamental part of the Islamic teachings to respect the values of others and serve humanity irrespective of their religion, their nation and their race.

The ultimate goal of Islam is to bring man into communion with God, His Creator. In order to attain this goal, it is essential for a Muslim to serve God’s creatures with all faculties and bounties. In the very first chapter of the Holy Quran, God lays down the golden principle of serving mankind without any distinction, by referring to Himself as the Lord of all worlds. (Chapter 2:2)

Hence, if God’s mercy and favours are not limited to any religion or nation – rather encompasses equally the whole of mankind – it is therefore also the responsibility of a Muslim to display mercy and kindness equally to the whole creation of God. The qualities of forgiveness, charity, providing education, giving of alms and all kinds of social services fall under this category.

For Muslims the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) – who is the founder of Islam and the role model for all Muslims- was the perfect example of all these qualities and the greatest servant of mankind and who was sent according to the Quran as a mercy to the whole mankind. (Chapter 21:108)

Therefore, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who are worldwide united under the spiritual guidance of the Caliph and His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, try to provide humanitarian services and serve mankind all over the world completely irrespective of religion or background.

Working within our own resources, which are limited and small, we have still been able to establish hundreds of schools and many hospitals in remote parts of the world. We are also providing water and electricity in the most remote villages and towns. We do not seek any praise or benefit, we only want to serve mankind and to please Allah the Almighty.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who founded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in 1889 and claimed to be the Promised Messiah, writes regarding the service to mankind:
“Be kind and merciful to humanity, for all are His (God’s) creatures; do not oppress them with your tongue, or hands, or in any other way. Always work for the good of mankind…Be humble in spirit, kind and gentle, and forgiving, sympathetic towards all and wishing them well, so that you should be accepted.”
