“Why do we have people who act with impunity?" -- Dr Fashola
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Nigeria has decried continuous depreciation of values in the country even as they identified moral re-orientation as a panacea to redress the situation.
At the Jama’at’s 65th Jalsa Salana held in Ilaro, Ogun State, the Amir of the group, Dr Mash’hud Aderenle Fashola deplored what he called the “culture of greediness and selfishness” especially among the political class.
“Why do we have people who act with impunity? Because they do not fear Allah. And that is a resultant effect of eroding social values. When social values are lost, you will see people becoming greedy, selfish and corrupt. It is the reason one individual will amass the wealth of thousands of other people and pretended that they are all his own,” Fashola said.
Similarly, the group’s deputy Amir, South West Region, Alh. Abdulazeez Alatoye urged Muslims to retrace their steps back to the footstep of the Holy Prophet Muhammed whom he said had set perfect example for moral re-orientation for mankind.
