"Respect every mandar, gurudewara, masjid, church"
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh): 'Mazhab nahee sikhataa apas mein bayr rakhnaa Hindee hai hum, vatan hai hindostaan hamaraa'. Meaning Religion does not teach us to hate each other, we are Hindustanis and Hindustan is our homeland.
These lyrics from a famous patriotic song "Sare Jahan se achha Hindustan Humhara", echoed loudly across the hill town of Shimla, when a small book stall installed in the historic gaiety theatre during a book festival preached the message of religious unity and brotherhood. This bookstall by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community was not only selling books to the visitors but also peace by making them understand the message that the books carry.
Visitors in large number were turning up to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community book stall that has displayed over 200 books endorsing world peace, in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. Some of the visitors even shared with us their experiences and thoughts about religious equality.
