QADIAN, India: Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated with gaiety here in Qadian. The day is observed to mark the sacrifices offered to Almighty Allah by Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail.

Muslims offered sacrifices of animals in a mark of respect and homage, and to commemorate the sacrifices offered by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Prophet Ismail to Allah. The meat from the slaughtered animal was distributed to the poor and the needy. Prophet Ibrahim had offered his son Prophet Ismail to Almighty Allah. Allah had accepted His beloved Prophet's intentions of sacrifice and provided for Prophet Ibrahim a lamb for sacrifice.

At this International Headquarter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community thousands of Muslims today offered prayers at Ahmadiyya Ground in Qadian. Maulvi Mohammad Inam Ghauri, Chief Secretary of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat in India, led the prayer. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ghauri appealed to all Muslims to follow the right path showed by the Prophet Mohammed and follow the 'sunnah' (tradition) of Prophet Ibrahim and be ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of Allah. After the Eid Khutba (sermon) Muslims raised their hands for prayers. People greeted by hugging and embracing each others.

A large number of Hindu and Sikhs also came into Eidgah to greet Muslims. A special DA'WAT (feast) was prepared by Langar Khana (kitchen) of the Promised Messiah.
