THE T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi has celebrated its 60th Anniversary of its founding, with a call on the government, Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to provide infrastructural facilities for effective administration work in the school.

The Headmaster, Mr. Yusif K. Agyare, noted that the school was faced with many problems which need to be solved for the efficient running of the school. He said the school had limited land for further expansion of infrastructural facilities, and appealed to the government to come to their aid, in order to solve the problem of congestion in the two boys' dormitories.

Mr. Agyare said the new boys' dormitory project, which was started in 2008, had been abandoned, and appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Ministry of Education to complete the dormitory, to help ease the congestion.

He also lamented that the 2,000 capacity Assembly Hall, which was to be completed last year, had also been unfortunately abandoned.

The Headmaster revealed that the school had wide catchments area, and that as enrollment continues to increase, an additional 12-unit classroom block would be required for SHS three students when they get to the fourth year.

He also pointed to the uncompleted fence wall project around the school, as one major problem, a situation which had exposed to school to all sorts of hazards, including insecurity among staff and students.

The Minister of Education, Mr. Alex Tettey-Enyo, on behalf of Vice-President Mr. John Dramani Mahama, commended the management of the school for their tremendous efforts and consistence focus that had brought the school this far.

He promised that the government and the Ministry of Education would assist the school through the GETFund, in terms of infrastructural facilities, in order to produce more professionals to help build a better Ghana.

The Adontinhene, Nana Adu Gyamfi, on behalf of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, urged all stakeholders, administrators, parents, and religious leaders, to concentrate on the education of their children, and cautioned the school authorities to build upon past achievements, to ensure more successes for students.
