Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association of Ghana holds congress

The congress attended by over 2,000 Ahmadi Muslim Students from both secondary and tertiary institutions was under the theme:"The Role of Students in Nation Building".

Accra, March 22, GNA - A religious leader, has called on the youth to pursue education to be abreast with technological advancement, to enable them to understand issues around them and improve their living standards. Alhaji Maulvi M. Yusuf Yawson, Acting Ameer and Missionary in-charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, made the call at the 11th Annual National Congress of Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association of Ghana (AMSAG), at Ashongman, Accra at the weekend.

He said "Education without practice is like un-utilised heap of salt. The knowledge acquired through learning should be of great service to your religion and society".


The congress attended by over 2,000 Ahmadi Muslim Students from both secondary and tertiary institutions was under the theme:"The Role of Students in Nation Building".

Mr Alex Tettey-Enyo, Minister of Education, in a speech read on his behalf, said government had instituted interventions for quality education to ensure that students excelled in their academic work.

He urged students to be disciplined and study hard to meet their goals. Madam Sakeena Bonsu, an Executive Member the Association, who spoke on "Contemporary Fashions and Islam," said Islam came to lift women from ignorance and self-slavery to a dignified state.

She advised the students to always dress decently, because any attire put on by a woman, communicated to the society, the character of the woman.
