Faisalabad; April 1, 2010: Three members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Faisalabad were brutally murdered around 10:30 PM.
Ashraf Pervaiz, Masood Shaikh and his young son Asif Masood were returning home from their business when they were intercepted by unidentified gunmen in Rail Bazaar and sprayed with bullets using automatic weapons.
Victims were immediately rushed to the hospital where all three were pronounced dead.
According to the early reports by the sources familiar with the killings, the victims likely expired at the scene of the shooting.
The victims had been receiving threats from anti-Ahmadiyya elements for quite some time, according to the sources familiar with the case.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has been continually victimized by the extremist elements in many parts of the Muslim world.
In Pakistan, since the promulgation of an anti-Ahmadiyya law in 1984, not a year has passed when there have been less than ten Ahmadi causalities due to religious bias.
In a previous report released by Nazarat Umoor-e-Aama, Sadr Anjuman Ahmadia Pakistan (Rabwa), it was asserted that the actions of “Ahmadi opponents” had been encouraged largely by the prejudiced attitude of the authorities.
These murders will add to the 11 already reported in the media during the year 2009.
