Two persons were injured today when a low-intensity explosive device went off outside a factory owned by members of the minority Ahmedi sect, barely two weeks after terrorists stormed two mosques of the community in this eastern Pakistani city.

Special Superintendent of Police (Operations) Chaudhry Shafiq said the explosive device was planted along the boundary wall of Shezan Factory on Bund Road.

He said police were investigating whether today’s attack was aimed at targeting Ahmedis.

On May 28, heavily armed terrorists attacked two Ahmedi mosques in Lahore and killed 95 [updated:85] people.

At least two terrorists blew themselves up within one mosque while two more were captured. The arrested terrorists had links with the local Taliban.

In the past, religious extremists had urged people not to consume products of Shezan, saying it was a "sin" to as their money would go to the Ahmedis.

While Ahmedis consider themselves Muslim, they were declared non-Muslim in Pakistan in 1974, and in 1984 they were legally barred from proselytizing or identifying themselves as Muslims.

--- Ahmadiyya Times update:

It is noteworthy that Majlis Khatm-e-Nubuwwat, long known for inciting violence against Ahmadiyya Muslim community, has continuously carried out a boycott campaign against Shezan alleging its ownership by Ahmadis .

There is no information if Majlis Khatm-e-Nubuwwat was, in anyway, involved or not in the attempted bombing of the factory.

The Khatm-e-Nubuwwat website has devoted pages to persuade the 'Muslims' to cause damage to Shezan's  business in the name of "Islam".

A Majlis Khatm-e-Nubuwwat conference, chaired by Senator Sajid Mir (PML-N), was held in Sargodha, Pakistan immediately after the Lahore attacks on Ahmadiyya mosques. Some alleged the meeting was held to control the level of sympathies Ahmadi Muslims might receive as a result of losing nearly 100 lives in the attacks.

According to media reports, the Majlis has demanded immediate “removal of Qadiyanis [Ahmadis] from ‘key’ posts.” and the 'real motives' behind the Lahore incident be exposed.

Majlis Khatm-e-Nubuwwat sought investigation of the attacks claiming that the Lahore attacks on the Ahmadiyya mosques were a ploy to damage Islam by repealing Anti-Ahmadiyya laws.

Just have to share a personal incident - a class-fellow whose dad is a Mullah propagated the same thoughts as stated above regarding consumption of Shezan products. Visiting their place, ironically I found Shezan squash bottles lying on the counter top and when asked how come, the class-fellow said, "My dad says their [Shezan's] products are actually the ones we can rely on." Ridiculous! Mullahs teach their kids to carry on with the hate campaign against Ahmadis for 'others' only, too sad they can't resist Shezan themselves. Yes, health is the top most concern, forget about religion.
