The Members of the Ahmadiyya community were again assaulted multiple times after the first attack on Friday afternoon which left ten members injured at Chandtara village of Ghatail upazila.

After the initial published reports of agitation on Friday afternoon, Ahmadi homes were again attacked in the early morning hours on Saturday where a mob had returned and attacked Ahmadi Muslims home after 1:00 AM, a field report cited.

The attackers destroyed and demolished the buildings and there were widespread looting of their house-holds and all belongings.

According to the latest information available, the mob returned for the third time during mid-morning hours and cut the trees and looted about fifty heads of cattle belonging to Ahmadi Muslims while the local Police stood by and watched.

Later in the day District Authorities visited the scenes of attacks and returned without outlining plans for the protection of Ahmadi residents.

The initial attacks, according to the police sources,  were held under the banner of 'Imam Parishad' at the time of the inauguration of an Ahmadiyya mosque and the local Muslims held procession and rally in the village against 40 Ahmadiyya families and vandalized several houses and two poultry firms owned by the Ahmadiyya community.

No actions have been taken so far against the attackers,  according to the local reports. The members of the Ahmadiyy community are in fear and anxiety of more attacks, bodily harm and destruction of their properties.

According to some observers, multiple organized attacks could not have been carried out without some elements in the local police and within the local government being sympathetic to the extremist clerics and may have had a hand in facilitating the attacks.
