LONDON – August 2, 2010 – The three-day Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the UK ended on Sunday in Alton, Hampshire.

In his landmark four addresses and a Friday Sermon,  His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community brought the membership up-to-date, on all aspects related to the worldwide Ahmadi Muslims.

At the close of this 44th Annual Convention the final tally was 28,675 attendees who represented 97 countries of the world.

The convention was broadcast live to the worldwide audience by Muslim Television Ahmadiyya International (MTA) from its field studios in Hadiqatul Mehdi in Alton and production and transmission facilities in London.

The event formally started with a flag hoisting ceremony where the spiritual leader of the community His Holiness, Hadhrat Ahamd hoisted the Ahmadiyya Mulsim Flag while Mr. Rafiq Hayat, National President of the community in the UK simultaneously hoisted the UK flag. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by silent prayers.

At the beginning of the flag hoisting ceremony, Kalim Sadiq, who was reporting live from the field for MTA, reminded the viewers about the significance of the sense of oneness in the community throughout the world.

“From the streets of Qadian, India to the roads of Rabwah, Pakistan and on the avenues in New York, Ahmadis are one community,” Sadiq reminded his international viewers glued to television sets everywhere.

After the Friday prayers on July 29, the convention proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and His Holiness spoke to the community in his inaugural address.

On Saturday His Holiness spoke to the ladies in a dedicated session and expounded upon various aspects of family life, modesty and upbringing of children and a pure environment.

Later the same day, as it is customary, he offered a detailed status report of the community’s worldwide activities and progress.

After leading a live international initiation ceremony in early afternoon on Sunday, he also delivered the closing address in the evening.

In his addresses he reminded the community to perfect their love for God Almighty, thus forever freeing themselves from Satan and his gang.

His Holiness touched upon the Lahore incident, where 86 Ahmadis were murdered by the extremist terrorists in simultaneous suicide attacks on two Ahmadiyya Mosques.

Speaking about the May 28 carnage and ongoing persecution of the Ahmadiyya Community in Pakistan and elsewhere, His Holiness explained that Satan is attempting to make the community afraid by threatening loss of life and property.

He said that truly righteous men do not fear Satan and its actions, nor are Ahmadis ever afraid of loss of life and property at the hands of Satan and its friends.

He challenged the anti-Ahmadiyya elements that Ahmadi are true followers of Islam. It will be proven on the judgment day, he said, that it is the Ahmadi Muslim who always stood by the Muslim creed, ‘There is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is His servant and messanger.’

It is estimated that there are more than 160 million Ahmadi Muslims with formal establishment of the community in 198 countries of the world.
