Justice (r) Mian Nazeer Akhtar said Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer was also a blasphemer for he was protecting those who indulged in blasphemy. “Section 295C was included in the Criminal Procedure of Pakistan in 1986, and a handful of people cannot be allowed to damage it.”

LAHORE – A handful of people, including a few television anchors and their so-called representatives of the Ulema invited as guests, cannot be allowed to damage the blasphemy law, and Christian leaders should have disowned Aasia immediately after she was found to be a blasphemer.
These views were expressed by speakers at a seminar ‘Protection of the blasphemy law and its importance’ held at the Hameed Nizami hall here on Tuesday under the auspices of Nawa-i-Waqt, The Nation and Waqt. Khawaja Farrukh Saeed conducted the proceedings.
Justice (r) Mian Nazeer Akhtar said Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer was also a blasphemer for he was protecting those who indulged in blasphemy. “Section 295C was included in the Criminal Procedure of Pakistan in 1986, and a handful of people cannot be allowed to damage it,” he said, while accusing the Federal Government of allowing dubious debates on television channels.
He quoted the Quranic verses to bring home his point that the blasphemers should be punished by death. “All kinds of protection is documented in law for wrong reporting, and giving fake evidence, which are punishable as per law,” he said, while quoting various sections.
Justice (r) Nazeer Ahmed Ghazi, while lauding Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami for his contribution to Islam and Pakistan, said the latter was the last citadel yet to be conquered by the adversaries of Muslims. He mentioned that the Muslims were not enemies of Christians since Islam ordains its followers to honour Hazrat Eisa (AS), and whosoever dared acting against this order, was thrown out of Islam’s ambit. “295C is a law for those who intend to violate respect of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). The Christian leaders should have disowned Aasiya immediately after she was found to be a blasphemer. It goes without saying that the Muslims would have done it if any follower of Islam would have disrespected Hazrat Eisa (AS),” he added.
