In the words of President Barack Obama, the incident in Arizona is truly an "unspeakable tragedy." Retrospectively, it was shocking to learn that a youth of our nation was responsible for this attack.
The Marinette school hostage situation of a month ago, or an extreme case like Columbine, show us that there is a greater need to focus on our youth. I am a member of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA (www.mkausa.org), a youth auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA. Our founder Mirza Basheerudin Mahmood Ahmad once said, "Nations cannot reform without the reformation of the youth."
Jared Loughner, allegedly responsible for the Arizona shootings, may be a lost cause, but we must focus on reforming youth like him who still have a chance.
