The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Liberia has ended the celebration of its 10th Annual Conference (Jalsa Salana). The conference was held on Friday and Saturday February 25- 26, 2011 at the Ahmadiyya Elementary School Ahmad Abad, Po-River, Monrovia. The purpose of the Convention is to enable every individual to personally experience religious benefits, enhance their knowledge, promote mutual introduction among all brothers and strengthen the fraternities within the community. The Guest of Honor at the occasion, Vice President Joseph N. Boakai extended greetings on behalf of the President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Government and the people of Liberia for the celebration of the Annual Conference. Veep Boakai lauded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission for its immense contributions to the development as a nation and people.
The Vice President cited the mutual cooperation that characterized true and unique relations between the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission and the Government of Liberia, covering several previous administrations dating as far back as President Tubman, who first extended an invitation for the establishment of the Mission in Liberia.
The Vice President concluded that the virtues and characteristics the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, exude today all over the world is an implementation of the vision planted by the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, as an embodiment of benevolence, peaceful, persevering, universal Brotherhood, submissive to the will of God and Religious tolerance.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast growing International revival Movement within Islam, founded in 1889 and spans over 196 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions.
The headquarters of the organization is in London, the United Kingdom. In a related development, the Special Guest of honor Cletus A.Sieh, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism reminded the group about the thousands of compatriots who lack basic necessities, food, shelter, health care, clean water, etc. and urged the people to intensify the fight against hunger and poverty and to serve as the beacon of hope to those who are hopeless and try to rescue the perishing and care for the dying.
Minister Sieh asserted that the Liberian Government recognizes the sacrificial work done for the Liberian people by the Ahmadiyya Community and thanked them for the support.
Minister Sieh said much has been achieved by the Government since its inception and that the Government launched the poverty Reduction Strategy known as “Lift Liberia” with four pillars, and today adding that the Government is successful in the implementation of the four pillars.
