“We should not take it easy with such society that kills at will. Nobody has the right to kill another person. Islam does not support killings. We are all equal before God.”

The Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, Dr  Moshood Fashola, has condemned the killing of 10 corps members at the recent political violence in the northern part of the country.

He condemned the killing at a news conference in Lagos, describing it as anti-Islamic and the handiwork of a  number of people who were working against the unity of the country.

While attributing the killings to security negligence of the Federal Government, the cleric called on Nigerians to hold responsible the governors of the state where such acts had occurred.

He said: “I suggest that others states of the federation should sanction such states where corps members have been killed. They should neither transact business with them nor allow the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to deploy their indigenes to serve in those states.”

Fashola, who is also a consultant with the World Bank, stated that a society that derived pleasure from terminating lives of people was being guided by the devil and should be sanctioned as a corrective measure to change its ways.

He added: “We should not take it easy with such society that kills at will. Nobody has the right to kill another person. Islam does not support killings. We are all equal before God.”

On the killing of the Al-Qaida leader, Osama Bin Laden, the Ahmadiyya Chief described it as a victory to the world.

He said: “If it is true that Bin Laden was the brain behind terrorism, then his death is a victory to the world.”

He, however, expressed disaffection with the manner at which the United States (US) had approached the fight against terrorism.

According to him, it would be better if the US could use dialogue to battle terrorism instead of attacking those countries or groups perceived to be supporting terrorism.
