Pakistan: Scores killed in Bin Laden revenge bombings

As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I have first hand knowledge of these violent groups and what they are capable of. Only last year 86 Ahmadi Muslims were killed when two of our mosques were attacked in Lahore, Pakistan.

80 dead and 100 wounded in northwestern part of Pakistan as Taliban took their “first revenge” for killing of Osama Bin Laden. This is exactly what I was scared of when the news broke out about the elimination of the ”enemy no. 1” a little over a week ago.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not a bin Laden supporter but am aware of the presence of extremists in Pakistan.  As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I have first hand knowledge of these violent groups and what they are capable of. Only last year 86 Ahmadi Muslims were killed when two of our mosques were attacked in Lahore, Pakistan.

According to  President Zardari of Pakistan  30,000 civilians have lost their lives ever since the Pakistani government joined hands with the United States in the war against terrorism. As an immigrant from Pakistan, I feel it is a shame that no acknowledgment of this grand loss of life has been made by the American government.

Since both the United States and Pakistan need each other to succeed in the war against terrorism, the US should do its best to help Pakistan handle this situation to ensure safety of the moderate, peace-loving majority.
