CHARITY - Ahmadiyya gathering for social projects
WIESBADEN: For the fifth time the youth organization of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has organized a charity run to Wiesbaden on Sunday, 9th October.
As in Offenbach, or in Gross-Gerau, the organizers want to win as many sports enthusiasts to run for a good cause.
All proceeds this year will go to "Zwerg Nase" and "Bärenherz", and also to the "Humanity First" organization, which operates as an orphanage in Benin.
Its patron is the Lord Mayor Helmut Mueller.
Those who want to join, have several routes to choose from. For runners, there is a ten-kilometer distance and for walking, hiking or Nordic walking, five kilometers routs are available.
The entry fee is a minimum of five Euros.
Many have already signed on, mostly as individual runners so far.
"but we would appreciate it especially when even more groups would sign up" says Nabeel Aslam, one of the organizers.
He hopes that, similar to last year, 500 people or more will go to the start line.
Aslam points out that the "Charity Run and Walk" is an official cross-country race of the Hessian Athletics Association (HLV).
Children can join in as well as adults.
Start and finish is at the Schiller monument at the Warmer Damm Park and the route leads up through the park towards Sonnenberg "An der Hofwiese".
Even the "regulars" can show off those who are already running as the Wiesbaden-based company ABO Wind last year participated with 20 people and company’s dog "Sino".
Speking about ABO Wind this year, Carsten Niggemeyer said: "we want to yet increase the number and are also on the best ways to achieve this."
With the races in Wiesbaden so far more than € 15 000 were taken for charitable purposes.
