The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community took a day to celebrate EID ul Fitr on August 30th, after a month of fasting.
The celebration included an extra EID prayer and a sermon about what Muslims can do to help their community. This year it is donating blood for the "Muslims for Life" Campaign to honor the victims of 9/11.
The Ahmadis are inviting other faiths, friends and Community groups to join them to help fellow Americans in need. A blood donor clinic will be held at the mosque at: 6113 Oakbrook Parkway, Norcross, GA on Sept. 11, 2011 between 10:30-5:00. A prayer for the victims of 9/11 will be held between 4-5. Please join us. It is meant to be an interfaith event.
The Muslims celebrated the fast by eating a variety of cakes followed by a light lunch, which included chicken tikka, basmati rice and chicken legs in gravy. The mothers handed out candy and presents for the children to enjoy.
The Ahmadi-Muslim community is highly diverse. People around the world have been attracted to Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam. The diversity includes people from Pakistan, India, African-Americans, Canadians, Japanese and Bangladeshi. The ladies clothing was a dazzling array of fabrics and color.
The Ahmadi-Muslims believe in the Promised Messiah, whose leadership is now represented by Caliphatul Masih V, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who lives in London, England. He leads the Ahmadis to give charity, follow the rules of the country they live in and make prayer a top priority.
The Ahmadi-Muslims will hold a book stall at the Decateur Book Festival, so if you plan to attend it, please stop by.
