USA: National blood drive to promote healing spirit on 9/11 anniversary

This Sept. 11 marks the 10th anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks on America. The impact of those acts and the innocent lives lost that day still resonate with Americans.

While the Quran (5:33) promotes the sanctity of life — “whosoever killed a person, it shall be if he had killed the entire mankind; and whoso saved a life, it shall be if he had saved the entire mankind” — the 9/11 extremists portrayed Islam as a religion of terror and destruction.

The 9/11 victims’ families are in need of healing. In this spirit, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA has launched a nationwide blood drive called “Muslims for Life.” The goal is to collect 10,000 bags of blood on Sept. 11. I urge all Americans, Muslims and non-Muslims, to join us in this campaign.


Let us demonstrate that Americans remain united when it comes to acts of goodness.
