An Ahmadi teacher of a government-run elementary school was gunned down on the school grounds while classes were in session
Sheikhupura, Pakistan: Angered by a teacher’s recent conversion to Ahmadiyya Islam, unidentified men stormed the grounds of an elementary school during the middle of the day and indiscriminately sprayed the teacher with bullets.
The killing took place at the Government Primary School in the village of GoliaN Wala near Farooq Abad area of Sheikhupura, at aproximately 75 miles distance from Lahore.
Dilawar Hussain, 42, received numerous gunshot wounds to his neck and stomach, the Ahmadiyya press release reported.
According to the reports the victim succumbed to his injuries and the loss of blood, and died enroute to the hospital.
The victim is survived by his wife and their four children.
According to Saleem-ud Din, an Ahmadiyya spokesperson in Pakistan, Hussain had recently joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim community to escape the intolerant and violent concepts of faith being promoted by the fundamentalists.
The victim’s former friends and some family members became furious about the conversion and presented the matter before street clerics of the town who issued an edict (fatwa) for Hussain’s death, it was reported.
Ahmadiyya spokesperson demanded a quick action from the authorities in this case citing their chronic negligence towards the atrocities committed against the Ahmadi members in Pakistan and the government's tacit involvement in Ahmadi murders through its continuous inaction.
There have been several incidents of well organized anti-Ahmadiyya pamphlet distribution campaigns throughout the Punjab calling on naive Muslims to murders Ahmadis and in exchange ‘earn paradise.’
Many Ahamdis have been murdered violently as a direct result of the campaign and the killers openly proclaimed their acts as their religious obligations.
