The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association took a major step toward its goal of becoming Canadian Blood Services largest partner when it comes to blood donations.

The youth group, an auxiliary wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jam’aat Canada, collected 156 units of blood at its 11th annual blood donor clinic Nov. 26 at Tahir Hall in Maple, according to spokesperson Ahmed Sahi. That’s enough blood to potentially save up to 468 lives.

The youth group far exceeded its previous best of 130 units.

Another blood donor clinic will be held Dec. 27 from noon to 3 p.m. in Tahir Hall, 10610 Jane Street.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is also supporting a national food drive, which runs until Dec. 12.

You can take part by donating dry or canned non-perishable food items at Baitul Islam Mosque also at 10610 Jane St.

Last year, 65 chapters across the country took part and collected 140,000 pounds of food, Mr. Sahi said.
