Canadian FM meets leader of Ahmadiyya Muslims, Mirza Masroor Ahmad
Canada's Foreign Minister John Baird MP on Tuesday visited the world head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad at the Fazl Mosque in London, said a press release.
During the meeting, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad highlighted the on going repression against the Ahmadiyyas across the globe, most notably in Pakistan where the sect faces regular religious persecution.
Update [by Ahmadiyya Times]:
The Foreign Minister said, according to the press release, that he was very concerned whenever he heard of such matters and it was against such systematic persecution that Canada envisioned the Office of Religious Freedom to act. He said that he believed that where religious freedom existed, there other rights would naturally develop.
Hadhrat Ahmad, for his part, informed the Foreign Minister that the Holy Qur’an taught respect for all religions to such an extent that Muslims have been ordered to not only protect their own mosques but to protect all places of worship, whether they be churches, synagogues or temples.
Praising the Canadian initiative of setting up 'Office of Religious Freedom' to fight religious oppression, Hadhrat Ahmad condemned these violence and called for peace.
