Happy 122nd* Promised Messiah Day to everyone. March 23rd of the year 1889 became a revolutionary day in world religions’ history. On that day the waiting of all the religions for a reformer, a savior, a redeemer, a spiritual guide and a Messiah came to end.
Every religion contains prophecies about the advent of a reformer in the latter day. For example: The Hindus awaited the re-advent of Krishna foretold in their scriptures; the Christians awaited the appearance of Jesus; the Muslims awaited the appearance of the Jesus as well as of Mahdi. Zoroastrians believed in the coming of Mesio Darbahme. The Buddhists also awaited the advent of Prophet Buddha in this time and age.
All religions prescribed precisely the same time for the appearance of their respective spiritual reformers. For example, the Holy Prophet of Islam foretold that the Mahdi will appear in the 14th century of Islam and there will be famines and earthquakes and other natural disasters.
He also predicted that the Muslims of that time will digress in spirituality and their scholars will become the worst creature on earth. In addition he predicted a solar and lunar eclipse in the Holy Month of Ramadhan. Jesus (as) also predicted the eclipses. He predicted stars to fall down which metaphorically refer to the appalling spiritual condition of the religious scholars. Prophet Buddha predicted occurrence of plague as a sign of his re-advent. Plague is also found in the Hindu scriptures as a sign of the re-advent of their Holy reformer. These are but a few signs that the founders of all these religions foretold.

Now if we look back at the late 19th and early 20th century, we realize that all these signs materialized one after another. From natural disasters to the spiritual condition of the religious scholars, eclipses and plague, all the prophecies had come true. This could lead to a total chaos if all the religions had received a reformer each as they had in mind. Just imagine the anarchy. Upon Prophet Jesus’ arrival, both Muslims and Christians would have started fighting over his ownership. And if Jesus (as) had already come what would happen to the Mahdi. This is why the Holy Prophet had already foretold that Jesus and Mahdi is one person. Similarly, plague was a sign for both Budhists and Hindus for the advent of Buddha and Krishna respectively. Imagine a situation, where both Budhists and Hindus are fighting over the ownership of plague as a sign. How shortsighted these religious scholars were, unfortunately many still are. Therefore when the right time approached and Muslims started to count days till the 14th century and Christians started to announce dates for the advent of their Messiah. God worked in the most logical and rational way and sent ONE person who was the Messiah, the Mahdi, the Krishna, the Budha and the spiritual reformer for all the religions.
After receiving the revelation from God, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India claimed to be that spiritual reformer that all the religions were awaiting. He came to manifest to the world the truthfulness of all the prophets. He showed the true and blessed face of both Islam and Christianity. He explained how Jesus (as) was an exalted prophet of God, who fulfilled his mission, survived the cross and died a natural death in India. He explained how Prophet Muhammad is the Seal of Prophets and is the last law bearing prophet. He elucidated the real meanings of Jihad and admonished Muslims to keep away from the self-made bloody interpretation of Jihad. Above all he spread the message of peace and that the world needs today.
Let us all celebrate the Promised Messiah day by knowing more about him, his mission and his community. A chapter of his community is right here in Richmond. Ahmadi Muslim men, women and children of Richmond Ahmadiyya chapter work together towards spreading the peaceful message of the long awaited Messiah.
