Letter: Grand Mufti in Saudi Arabia must refrain from disturbing edicts

Based on Prophet Muhammad’s powerful pledge, I strongly urge the Grand Mufti in Saudi Arabia to refrain from such a disturbing edict. Do not desecrate or destroy any church in Saudi Arabia.

St. Catherine Monastery holds great significance for Muslims and Islam.  This Monestary’s administrators requested the Holy Prophet Mohammad to give them his protection against attack.  The Prophet Mohammad gave them his word; writing to them:

“This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.

"Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.

"No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).”

Based on Prophet Muhammad’s powerful pledge, I strongly urge the Grand Mufti in Saudi Arabia to refrain from such a disturbing edict. Do not desecrate or destroy any church in Saudi Arabia.  Protection of Mosques, Churches and Synagogues is an injunction of the Holy Quran  22:41  Refrain from such deplorable acts.

  1. Permission is granted to those against whom war is made because they have been wronged - and indeed Allah has the power to help them.

And those who have been driven out of their homes unjustly just for saying 'Our Lord is Allah' and if Allah did not repel certain people by means of others there would surely have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques wherein the name of Allah is oft invoked. And Allah will surely help one who helps His cause. Allah is indeed the Powerful the Mighty.
