The report, published by Jang, an Urdu daily, said the pair talked about continued future cooperation between the two groups and possibility of political alliances.
The two parties have previously indicated that strong alliances might become necessary for the execution of their shared agenda towards their common goals.
The two leaders discussed their longstanding complaints about ‘American interference’ in Pakistan’s internal matters and level of corruption in the current political system.
The strategy for asserting an alternative political leadership in Pakistan was also discussed.
According to sources close to the matter, the meeting was held at the direction of PTI chief Imran Khan.
Reportedly, the cricketer-turned-politician and PTI boss, Imran Khan has developed a liking for the JI, an extremist Islamist political party in Pakistan and the two share vision about governance rooted in the current extremist-inspired definitions of Islam.
The two leaders reject the idea of reforming the infamous blasphemy laws of Pakistan.
PTI chairman's insistence on projecting his party as 'new age liberals' brings about humorous remarks by many.
A tweep taking note of the peculiar PTI/JI meeting wrote "Shah Mehmood Ghaznavi in Mansoora for conquering Somnath" at the micro-blogging website, Twitter.
Mansoora is the Jamaat e Islami headquarter building in Lahore, Pakistan, and Somnath is a reference to the famous Hindu Temple in Gujarat, India, which was destroyed in the eleventh century by the Muslim conqueror, Mahmud Ghaznavi who raided the temple.
