Panama: Spiritual leader sends a message of goodwill

"We do not speak ill of anyone; we believe that everyone has religious freedom; we believe that there is no original sin, since each baby is born clean without a stain; moreover, we ask forgiveness directly from God and there is no intermediary."

Their peaceful community was founded in India in 1889; it has millions of followers in 200 countries

Abdul Sattar Khan, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (whose central headquarters is in London), visited Panama to promote the philosophies of this religious group.

The Community champions a world where inter-religious dialogue prevails in order to eliminate invisible barriers, which are like a rock obstructing a path, that prevent individuals holistic development and ability to live together in fraternity.

Abdul Sattar Khan, who extols the principles of a better life, is 65 years old, and studied for 7 years in missionary school.

He was born in Pakistan and lived 13 years in Spain. Currently, he is living in Guatemala, since 2007. From there he frequently travels within Latin America. His most recent trip also included Ecuador and Chile; he plans to visit Peru and Colombia in the near future.

In Pakistan he was sub-director of the magazine Al-Fazal in Rabwah, Pakistan.

He states, 'Our founder s name is Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad  (Qadian, India 1835-1908). We believe that he is the spiritual guide of this age (Mahdi).'

After the founder s death in 1908, the community has been led by elected successors called Khalifatul-Masih. The fifth and current successor, since 2003, is Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

Khan continued by saying that 'we interpret the Holy Quran as taught by the Prophet [of Islam].'

"The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community firmly rejects violence and terrorism in any form and any circumstance," he adds

He emphasized that the community is characterized as such since "we do not speak ill of anyone; we believe that everyone has religious freedom; we believe that there is no original sin, since each baby is born clean without a stain; moreover, we ask forgiveness directly from God and there is no intermediary."

He also highlights that the "Community has translated the Holy Quran in more than 60 languages, including Spanish and Catalan."
