A MUSLIM youth group in Leamington has condemned the anti-Islam film making waves across the globe – but also spoken out against the violent reaction to its release.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association in Leamington Spa (AMYA) has unequivocally denounced what it calls the "hurtful and misguided" anti-Islam film 'Innocence of Islam', which it said was a “grossly unprincipled use of the right to freedom of speech and a flagrant attempt to incite the emotions of a large proportion of the world.”

But Zafar Bhatti, youth leader from the AMYA, also spoke out over the violent and deadly protests to the film across the Muslim world, saying it would be “unfortunate if the perception of the Prophet Muhammad was shaped by the fleeting anger of pockets of Muslims in distant lands and not by the tireless efforts of thousands of loyal British Muslims for the betterment of this great nation.”

The association added members would be responding in a peaceful matter to the issue by holding seminars to promoted the “true and beautiful character of the Holy Prophet.”
