Canada: Reflections on Dalton McGuinty

I will remember Dalton McGuinty primarily for his great services to Ontario. He was a committed premier who wasn't afraid to reach out to smaller communities.

Dalton McGuinty is a great person and although I have generally not voted for liberals but have always appreciated him as a human. A fact I admire about him is that he builds strong relations with various communities. Many will say he does this just for political gains but some of his deeds have very little political advantage.

In July 2012, when the leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was visiting Canada, Dalton McGuinty held a reception just in his honour. Did this event get covered in media? No! It was more of a selfless appreciation act by him.

Dalton McGuinty stated at this reception, “We are fortunate to have a strong Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that is inspired by the leadership of His Holiness to promote peace, justice, equality, respect and understanding for all humanity.” In return, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Leader, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad appreciated the reception quite a lot.

He even stated, “How could it be that we did not respond to love with love?” I will remember Dalton McGuinty primarily for his great services to Ontario. He was a committed premier who wasn’t afraid to reach out to smaller communities. I may not agree with everything his party says but I will definitely appreciate him as a person of great qualities. Best of Luck for the future!
