A man belonging to the Ahmadiyya community was killed in what appears to be a sectarian attack in Ghaus Nagar, Baldia.
Baldia Division Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mohammad Ahmed Baig said Saad was shot dead and his father, Farooq, brother, Hamad, and uncle, Nusrat, injured in the afternoon when they were returning home in a car from their worship place.
Two men riding a motorcycle intercepted their vehicle and opened fire on them.
The four men were moved to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where Saad expired, while the three others survived their injuries.
Saad had married a week earlier.
The police officer said Saad and his three relatives were businessmen by profession. “The attack appears to be sectarian in nature, but others angles will also be probed.” The police found 9mm pistol bullet shells at the crime scene.
