Eye on terrorism: Condemnation from a fellow Muslim

Unlike in France, Muslim American women are allowed to wear their head scarfs. Unlike in Switzerland, mosques in America are allowed to have minarets.

As a 23-year-old Ahmadi Muslim American, I condemn the actions of the so-called Muslim youth in California arrested for planning to join a terrorist organization.

Their belief that Islam advocates violence goes against Islam’s teaching.

Prophet Muhammad taught that loyalty to one’s country is part of one’s faith. A Muslim American who attacks America is actually attacking Islamic principles. Muslims in America should be loyal to America, not only because of their faith, but also because of their privileges in America.

Unlike in France, Muslim American women are allowed to wear their head scarfs. Unlike in Switzerland, mosques in America are allowed to have minarets.

Muslims should proudly serve their country. This is the spirit of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. We have raised over $80,000 in our Walk for Humanity for the less fortunate. Service to our country is the real motto for Muslim youth.
