Calgary’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community hosted Consul General Peter Kujawinski, his wife Nancy and Consulate staff to dinner and a tour of the Baitan Nur mosque. This is the second year that Calgary’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community has generously hosted U.S. Consulate staff and their families at the mosque for dinner and conversation.

On this visit, the Consul General had the opportunity to meet Lal Khan Malik, the national president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, who was visiting from Ontario. He also learned about the many programs and services offered at the mosque as well as the interfaith and religious tolerance initiatives the Ahmadiyya community is promoting. At the end of the visit, Consul General Kujawinski presented his hosts with a set of Islamic Art posters depicting artwork from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The 45,000-square-foot Baitan Nur mosque in northeast Calgary opened in 2008 and was constructed largely through donations from the city's small but rapidly growing Ahmadiyya Muslim community.
