An Ahmadi man is among the over 40 killed in twin blasts that occurred on Sunday evening in Abbas Town, Karachi, a Shia-dominated neighborhood, which also left over 135 injured.
The explosions killed men, women and children indiscriminately.
The news of an Ahmadi man possibly among the victims of the blasts first appeared in the social media.
“Our brother is missing & his family is searching for him,” wrote Mr. Saleemud Din, national spokes person for Jamā'at-e Ahmadiyya Pakistan, as he asked friend for their prayers.
There was initially some confusion about the fate of the Ahmadi victim, it was reported by Mr. Saleemud Din, who was constantly updating on the situation through social media.
The news was finally confirmed when victim's family identified the dead body.
“Mubashir saheb who was missing after the blast in Abbas Town Karachi has given his life in the way of Allah,” the confirming message read in a twitter post. “His body has been identified.”
“Initially we got the news that he has died but later it turned out to be someone els's body. Now the family has identified him,” the community spokesperson further stated.
Victim was identified as 43 years old Mubashir Ahmad Abbasi, son of Nadir Bakht Abbasi , of Abbas Town, Karachi.
Victim is survived by a wife and 2 children; a 12 years old daughter and a 10 years old son.
"Please remember all those who have given their lives today in your prayers & those who are left behind that May Allah give them patience,' Mr Saleemud Din wrote in his concluding post.
