Much has been said about Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam. But not many know who he was, what his childhood was like, and how he lived in his community. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Greater Seattle, based in Lynnwood, presents, "Messenger of Peace," telling the story of the Prophet of Islam. The program aims to give a glimpse into his life based on recorded facts, organizers said.

"We hope that bringing better awareness to the real life and actions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) will help our neighborhoods build stronger bonds of understanding and respect," community President Irfan Chaudhry said in a statement.

"This is part of our ongoing nationwide Muslims for Peace campaign which seeks to convey the true message of Islam at the grass roots level."

The hour-long program is set for 7 p.m. today at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 Fourth Ave. N. The local Muslim group is made up of followers of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908), an Indian whom they describe as a messiah, like Jesus Christ, and whose ministry they believe was foretold by Muhammad.
