Can we put a stop to the self-created Deobandi-Barelvi, Shia-Sunni, Pashtun-Punjabi conflict in the name of moon-sighting in Pakistan, UK, USA and other countries?
The dates of Ramadan and other Islamic months depend on the [local] sighting of the new crescent Moon.
Can we put a stop to the Saudi-ization of Eid and Ramazan in Pakistan and elsewhere? Why can’t Muslims in Pakistan and other countries use modern technology to ascertain the visibility of crescent with naked eye or with telescope.

The present day maulvis use the telescope for sighting new moon. They even go in the air on aircraft to sight the moon. They use telescope and aircarft but would not like to use the computer. Why?
ReplyDeleteThe saudis have a system of sighting the moon. They observe the moon in morning (not in evening). From the condition of the moon in the morning, they can calculate (the approximate date, time of) the appearance of new moon.
The Egyptians have predtermined lunar calendar for the whole year. It is a nuisance that muslims querrel over the first day of the lunar month. Islam is for peace, not for disturbances.
If the prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) said, "Start the lunar month by sighting the moon..." it was alright. What else could he say in those days? That was the best and simplest way in those simple days for the whole world. It was the natural good advice.
But there is no harm in adopting the latest technology in present days when all other modern facilities are being utilised in daily life by all Muslims.
The real problem is: There is no guided peaceful leader of the main line Muslims today. Most of their leaders are political leaders. Poor Muslims are suffering due to that bad leadership.
