Third victim in 15 days, another Ahmadi man is shot dead in Orangi Town area of Karachi in Sindh province of Pakistan.
On his way to work, Ijaz Ahmad was passing through a bazaar on foot when men riding on motorcycles shot him in the head, is has been reported in social media.
Although victim was shot at point blank range in a busy market, no witnesses have come forward to assist in the investigation.
Victim Ijaz Ahmad was 36 year old and left behind 3 children and his widow.
Victim's eldest daughter is 12 years old while 2 younger sons are ages 10 and 8 years.
Reportedly, the area where Ijaz Ahmad was murdered is filled with anti-Ahmadiiyya hate filled wall chalking.
According to the Ahmadiyya national spokesperson in Pakistan, Mr. Salimud Din, Ijaz Ahmad was brother in law of Mohammad Nawaz, an Ahmadī Muslim who was also murdered about a year ago
Nawaz was also killed in the same Orangi town area of Karachi on September 11, 2012.
“This is third Ahmadi killed in last 15 days in the same locality of Orangi Town,” wrote Saleemud Din on Twitter. “The only motive to take their lives was their faith.”
An Ahmadi doctor, Syed Tahir Ahmad was shot dead in Landhi area of Karachi when he was attending to his patients about a week ago.
The community says the killings are the direct result of a reckless disregard by Pakistani authorities of the hate-materials routinely published against Ahmadis which openly provok and incite public to kill Ahmadis.
“Government should understand its duty and should stop the publishing of hate material against Ahmadis,” Saleemud Din had demanded in a community statement previously.
[Update] As more information has become available, the above report has been corrected to reflect that killers were riding on motorcycles when they approached the victim and shot him. The previous version erroneously implied that killers walked up to the victim and shot him.
