A GROUP of Muslim women and children helped unite Scunthorpe communities in paying their respects to fallen soldiers.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association took to the streets of Scunthorpe town centre, selling poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion appeal.

Group member Mariam Sohail said: "Fundraising for charitable organisations to help the community has always been a priority for us and in the past we have raised money for local charities like Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

"It's an important part of our faith to love our community and nation, so we were keen to help the Royal British Legion."

The group set themselves the target of raising £500 in donations.
