As a society, it’s our responsibility to address these issues using practical approaches, such as teaching women necessary job skills that will make them employable, and raise their status in society.

Legalizing prostitution will lead to myriad social and economic problems. The problem stems from the fact that vulnerable women deprived of transferable skills are forced to resort to prostitution as a means of survival. Legalizing prostitution will not only further their vulnerability, but will tarnish the image of women and turn them into sex objects.
This will have a cascading effect on Canadian youth by depriving them of understanding the true status of women. Growing up in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, it’s been instilled in me to value and respect women, but I believe legalizing prostitution legitimizes the objectification of women, and lowers the status of women in young men’s eyes.
As a society, it’s our responsibility to address these issues using practical approaches, such as teaching women necessary job skills that will make them employable, and raise their status in society.
That would be a more responsible solution.
