HISTORY was created at the Ahmadiyya Muslim College yesterday after the Coca-Cola Games Torch visited the school in Narere for the first time.
The torch started its Fiji tour yesterday at Nasinu Secondary School, visiting schools along the Suva-Nausori corridor.
Ahmadiyya Muslim College will have three athletes participating in the annual secondary schools athletics meet at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala on April 25 and 26.
College principal Premila Kumar said it was an exciting day for them to witness an important event associated with the Games.
Athlete Lui Mailau, who will participate in the junior 100 metres event, said he was looking forward to his first Coca-Cola Games.
Mailau won the gold medal in Zone I competition with a time of 12.5 seconds and hopes to better his performance in the national event.
"Athletics is something that I haven't given a serious thought about but it depends on the outcome in the Coca-Cola Games," the 16-year-old said.
"If I do well, I might continue with this and maybe make a career out of it."
Mariana Ravuci and Makelesi Uluibatiki are the other athletes representing the school.
Ravuci will take part in the sub-junior high jump while Uluibatiki will compete in the 400m sub-junior race.
