[W]hen lies caught up with Hirsi Ali, who had been elected as a lawmaker, it arguably caused the Duch government to fall and she was told to leave the country, resulting in her migration to the United States.

Recently Muslim and Jewish students and faculty members at Brandeis University, a Jewish-sponsored education institution, revolted when the school administration announced to bestow an honorary degree upon Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an activist with a long record of anti-Islam statements.
Joined by outside supporters, the protesters were able to successfully pressure the school administration to rescind the degree offer for Ms. Ali.
Researching about Ayaan Hirsi Ali's checkered story of asylum in The Netherlands and of 'women's rights activism,' the following is learned in this unchallenged narrative provided by Wikipedia:
[S]he has admitted to telling lies in her application for asylum to enhance her chances of staying in the Netherlands. These lies, as described by Ali herself in her work and during public appearances, were apparently matters of omission, wherein she failed to disclose to the Dutch authorities that she had left the land of her birth and lived abroad, in Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, and Kenya, before returning to her native Somalia and participating in the rescue of family members displaced by that nation's civil war. Her untruths have raised doubts about other elements of her biography that lack documentary or circumstantial evidence. [Wikipedia: Retrieved April 11, 2014]Further, during my research, a video documentary produced by the Dutch Public Broadcasting, Vara, surfaced in a blog post from December 2010 by Flavia Dzodan, a writer, media analyst and marketing consultant based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
On December 1st, 2010, Ms. Dzodan wrote an entry in her blog, Red Light Politics, entitled ‘About Ayaan Hirsi Ali’, detailing through the accompanied videos some background about how Ayaan Hirsi Ali rose to fame in The Netherlands where she piggy-backed her women's rights activism on Islamophobia.
However, when the lies caught up with Hirsi Ali -- who, by then, had been elected as a lawmaker -- the ensuing commotion arguably caused the Duch government to fall. Many politicians -- on the right and on the left -- who had arranged a nearly overnight asylum for her in The Netherlands, and openly supported her anti-Islam stance cloaked in 'women's rights activism' throughout her personal career building journey, withdrew their support and she was told to leave the country. A similar group of politicians and activists in the US made another nearly overnight asylum possible resulting in Ali's migration to the United States where she -- despite all her lies -- was accepted as a women's rights champion which she continues to connect with her Islamophobia.
"The consequence of her lies and manipulation of the Dutch immigration system can still be felt across the country six years later," Flavia Dzodan wrote in her blog-post. "As a result of the scandal, laws for asylum seekers became even more stringent and numerous people were deported."
The following entry is cross-posted from Flavia Dzodan's blog:
About Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Since yesterday, my post about her got some attention and curiosity, I thought I would share this video. In yesterday’s post I claimed that her personal story was based on lies and that her lies caused such a crisis in Dutch politics that the government fell and had to go for early elections (she was, at the time, an MP for one of the parties running the country, so when the lies came to light, it resulted in a vote of no confidence for her party, since the higher ups knew she had lied about almost everything regarding her past).
This video is from Dutch public broadcaster Vara (imagine, if you will, a local equivalent to the BBC, not some tabloid like outlet) and it exposes and dissects her lies one by one (from her claims that she was forced to marry someone to the fact that she claimed she was forced to practice an oppressive form of Islam). The documentary tackles, in depth, all the lies and half truth that led to the Dutch government asking her to leave the country (it was that, or revoking her citizenship). The documentary is in Dutch, with English subtitles, but there are significant portions in English (particularly of the research done by the documentary team in Kenia). It is in four parts (this is part one). Part two, part three and part four can be found at the links. Part two is particularly interesting because the journalist faces her with all the facts they have researched, looks at her and asks “What do you have to say about all this?” and her response was “That I lied about almost everything”.
The consequence of her lies and manipulation of the Dutch immigration system can still be felt across the country six years later. As a result of the scandal, laws for asylum seekers became even more stringent and numerous people were deported. It also resulted in one of the most extreme immigration laws in Europe, making it very difficult for families to reunite or for people to bring their partners over.
Most people who know her from her anti Muslim activism in the US are not aware of all this, since she has conveniently swept all these facts about her earlier political career under the rug. But those of us who live here, still remember what she stands for.

"Despicable," wrote '@jediknightkhan, a blogger commenting on Flavia Dzodan's entry, adding, "if she did actually suffer all she said she did, one could sympathize with her and have dialog."
"Instead, this shows her true colors, that she is self-serving and that she doesn't care about what’s true."
Longing for fame through mass-murderer Anders Behring Breivik
When the infamous anti-Muslim manifesto by Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer, surfaced, many right-wing pundits and organizations were cited in it. Many were dumbfounded for being connected with it. However, for Ms. Ali, whose name was not mentioned anywhere, that must have been a real disappointment.
There is an audio clip posted on Think Progress website which hints at how she actually craves being mentioned by the killer and force adds herself into the conversation. The following excerpts peeks into Ms. Ali's mind:
While accepting a prize this month from the German multimedia company Axel Springer, Somali-born Dutch AEI scholar Ayaan Hirsi Ali spoke on the “advocates of silence” — those she admonishes for purportedly stifling criticisms of radical Islamic extremism.
In the speech ... Hirsi Ali noted that she herself appeared in Breivik’s 1,500-word manifesto (Breivik reprinted a European right-wing article saying Hirsi Ali should win the Nobel Peace Prize). While she denounced Breivik’s views as an “abhorrant” form of “neo-fascism,” she then postulated that Breivik was driven to violence because his militant anti-multicultural views were not given a fair airing in the public discourse.
After speaking about how the “advocates of silence” repress discussion about radical Islamism, Hirsi Ali said:
Fourthly and finally, that one man who killed 77 people in Norway, because he fears that Europe will be overrun by Islam, may have cited the work of those who speak and write against political Islam in Europe and America – myself among them – but he does not say in his 1500 page manifesto that it was these people who inspired him to kill. He says very clearly that it was the advocates of silence. Because all outlets to express his views were censored, he says, he had no other choice but to use violence.
Hirsi Ali, who has been a Dutch parliamentarian, is a frequent contributor to many U.S. and international publications.
