The Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), a mere historical personality for some and a prophet founder of Islam for others, has constantly been targeted by the media, scholars, film-makers and caricaturists.

The women of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community France organized a conference entitled, "Muhammad, beyond the representations" to debunk the misconceptions about the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad on Saturday 10th may 2013.

The conference took place in Forum 104, Paris – a location known for interfaith, peaceful dialogues and conferences.

After the recitation of the Holy Qur'an and a brief introduction of the purpose behind organizing the conference by the national secretary of interfaith outreach, three members of the panel, Aminata Toure, Aneeqa Rehman and Mahrukh Arif presented the various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Aminata Toure spoke in details about the prevailing conditions in the pre-Islamic era and emphasized how low was the status of women in the 6th century Arabia . More globally, she expressed, how spectacular the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad proved in the Arabic society of the time and the changes he brought forth by preaching the unity of God.

Aneeqa Rehman described the persecutions that the first converted Muslims had faced and explained in details why Muslims had to finally fight to defend themselves. She explained that Islam was never expended by the sword but rather by the compassionate character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad who won the hearts of millions.

Mahrukh Arif tackled the issue from more of a current practical aspect. Ms. Arif spoke about the abuse of freedom of speech concerning the French caricatures made by Charlie Hebdo and explained that such attacks were made even during the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad himself but he never responded with violence but prayed and asked for the help of God instead. She also spoke about the teachings of Jihad that the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him) brought and why the reactions given by Muslims around the world after the caricatures and the derogatory movie against the Prophet Muhammad was natural yet wrong.

The conference was well appreciated and most of the guest left saying they had learnt a lot from it. The beauty of the teachings brought by the founder of Islam came as a surprise for others who were unaware of all the rights he brought which makes him the first liberator of women and slaves.

The organizers offered refreshments to the guests. Furthermore, a book exhibition was organized from the morning which led guests to discover the literature of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
