Perspective: How do you tell if it's a bad day for humanity?
How we are worse than animals, how we have lost the right to be called Ashraful Makhlooqat, 'the best of all creations.'

Has Humanity Perished?
Today is the day that a 3 year old son saw his fathers body crumble and wither in pain after being shot 11 times, today is the day that a wife saw her beloved husband leave her forever, today is the day the world lost yet another humanitarian, today is the day that yet another peace of humanity perished.
It is prevalent knowledge that people in Pakistan are commonly killed on the basis of their religion, whether they are Shias, Christians or Ahmadis, but for a while let us overlook religious issues. Let us forget Dr Mehdi Ali's faith and religion because first foremost he was a human being. A human being that voluntarily and happily served others irrespective of their race, religion and creed. A human being that left his own comforts to give aid to others. Despite being a well known cardiologist in America, yet he volunteered to help lessen the pains of the people suffering in 3rd world countries. All in all, a great and humble human being, but alas! . It's outrageous what our world has come to; where a humanitarian is killed but a murderer is crowned as a hero.
Sometimes I wonder what goes on in the head of the killer.. have they no shame? No remorse? Did they not think what an impact they will leave on his young son? Did they not think how his wife will battle with the severe pain of losing her husband, the father of her children? My heart sinks when I think of Dr Mehdi's family. What they must be going through is unimaginable, and even though killings in Pakistan are all too common for comfort but each time I am astonished how humanity has perished. How we are worse than animals, how we have lost the right to be called Ashraful Makhlooqat, 'the best of all creations.'
Thus, the question remains, is being an Ahmadi such a heinous crime that a great human must be punished for it? Is it really that unforgivable? Did the selfless acts of Dr Mehdi mean nothing? Was being an Ahmadi such an unforgivable crime that a mans life must be snatched away from him? What justification can these people give for the killing of a noble man? How can they ever repay his family? How can they ever replace the void left by Dr Mehdi? They cannot, not now, not ever, but the tragedy is that they think they are doing it for a greater good. So, as I see the young wife of Dr Mehdi calmly sitting and holding her innocent little toddler, I pray to Allah and ask Him for nothing but justice for all those martyred, imprisoned and tortured because of their faith.
Similar is the case of a shia doctor recently killed in Quetta, it is beyond my understanding what these barbaric people get by killing doctors, by doing this they not only kill one specific doctor but deprive the world of a savior, a helper. Thus, keeping in mind the ever increasing killing of doctors, we should all be prepared for a day when there will be no one around to go to for our treatments.
