Global Minorities Alliance, a UK based  rights group, has condemns the recent killing of Mr Khalil Ahmad while in Police custody in Sharaqpur, Punjab, Pakistan.

"We are deeply concerned about the security of minority members who are falsely booked for blasphemy in Pakistan prisons and who are subject to all kinds of violence, intimidation and threats both from their inmates and from the wider public," said Shahid Khan, the organization's Vice Chairperson.

Mr Khan said members of the Muslim Ahmadiyya community are chased unto death from their homes to streets, from  prisons to their graves. "The horror of minorities continues to loom large for millions of minority members."

Being a member of a minority means a "stigma" and a "taboo" in Pakistan and on top the state is unable to protect and promise its constitutional responsibilities towards its own citizens, said Khan.

"We demand Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, to conduct an independent inquiry over this tragedy and punish the culprits. We further call for the repeal of Pakistan blasphemy laws."
