Perspective: Israel plays victim card | Letter
I am disappointed in Stephen Harper and our government for siding with the oppressor. Israel is targeting Gaza knowing that innocent Palestinians are being killed daily.

Re: "Coverage biased," Letter, July 17.
There is no anti-Israel bias in the media, as there is a consistent portrayal of Israel being on the defensive and forced to retaliate to protect its citizens. The bias lies with Palestine, which is repeatedly shown as being the one on the offensive and its people depicted as savage and bent on hate.
But the facts are facts. Israel has been on a relentless pursuit of colonization and oppression of the Palestinian people. Israel may have retracted its illegal settlements in Gaza in 2005, but the institutional oppression in the region has remained as Israel maintains harsh border control and power over airspace, among other things.
I am disappointed in Stephen Harper and our government for siding with the oppressor. Israel is targeting Gaza knowing that innocent Palestinians are being killed daily.
Even with Israel's warning calls and messages, Palestinians have nowhere to run.
It's time Israel gave up its narrative of victimhood, as the facts and death tolls speak for themselves.

ReplyDeleteThis recent conflict are between Hamas al Qassam and Israel Defence Force. Palestinian People in Gaza is one of the victims in this conflict as well as Israeli people. Concerning of Palestinian People, Hamas Al Qassan more responsible to the tragedy. Had they stopped sending rockets to Israeli Targets, IDF certainly will not retaliate the attack. Ahmadis should be careful not to fall trapped and involve in the conflict between them. They should concentrate on how to help Palestinian people.
The things that can be done to help Palestinian People are persuade Hamas to stop their rockets to Israeli targets. The moment Hama stop, IDF will stop attack to Gaza People. Sending humanitarian aids is another way to help Palestinian people in Gaza.
