The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has used his first Friday Sermon of this year’s Ramadan to appeal to the Muslim world to adopt righteousness.
Speaking from the Baitul Futuh Mosque in London, on 4 July 2014, the Khalifa said it was a source of great regret that the majority of Muslim leaders and religious clerics did not uphold the moral standards required by Islam. Instead they were consumed by political motives and a desire for power. His Holiness said there was no benefit to fasting if it was not accompanied by righteousness and piety.
His Holiness condemned so-called Muslim leaders and clerics who were calling on Muslim youths to fight in wars and misleading them entirely by claiming that they were doing their religious duty of Jihad.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
The Muslim leaders and so-called clerics are not righteous or God fearing and as a result those under their influence are being entirely misguided. The clerics are pushing young people, who know no better, towards evil and cruelty by falsely claiming it will lead them towards God.His Holiness continued:
No one is guiding such youths or the wider Muslim community that such cruelty is neither righteous nor just. What they are doing is not Jihad because murder and bloodshed can only take you away from God.
The Khalifa said that murder, cruelty and all forms of injustice were completely against the teachings of Islam. He said that God Almighty could never grant Khilafat (Caliphate) to such groups.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
Could Allah ever permit for such evil people to establish Khilafat and to be His representatives on earth? Could that God who is the Merciful God ever assist tyrants and the cruel? Never!
Could that God who sent the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a mercy for mankind let cruelty dwell in the earth in the name of his blessed prophet? Never!Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said that in this era there was only one true Khilafat and it was the Khilafat that led the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. It was the same Khilafat which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had foretold of during his life.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
According to the prophecies of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) the true Khilafat in this era would be the Khilafat that followed the Promised Messiah and with the Help and Support of Allah it has been established. Apart from this true Khilafat, every other claim to Khilafat is false, and such claims are made only for the sake of gaining worldly power or to take over governments falsely in the name of religion. His Holiness said there was only one way for the Muslim world to emerge from its current state of despair and conflict and it was by accepting the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
If instead of opposing the Promised Messiah, the Muslim community joined together to help and further his mission then the restlessness that exists amongst Muslims in every Muslim country would cease. The disorder, strife and in-fighting that exists would transform into love and harmony. His Holiness also used his sermon to condemn an anti-Islamic animated film set for simultaneous release in the United States and Germany. He said Ahmadi Muslims would respond to this provocation in a law abiding and peaceful manner. He added that Ahmadi Muslims should be regular in invoking salutations (Durood) on the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
