USA: ‘Muslims for Life’ blood drive Sept. 13 in Chandler held to honor victims lost on 9/11


During the previous three campaigns some 33,350 pints of blood were collected to help save more than 100,000 lives, according to the release. One of the partners in the campaign is the American Red Cross, according to the group’s website on the blood drives.

A blood drive to be held Sept. 13 in Chandler is part of a fourth-annual national Muslim campaign to collect 13,000 pints of blood to help save 39,000 lives. It is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Baitul Aman Mosque, 2035 W. Elliot Road in Chandler.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA’s three-month campaign “Muslims for Life” blood drives between Aug. 15 and Nov. 15 are aimed to honor the victims of 9/11 and emphasize the Islamic teachings of the sanctity of life, according to a press release.

During the previous three campaigns some 33,350 pints of blood were collected to help save more than 100,000 lives, according to the release. One of the partners in the campaign is the American Red Cross, according to the group’s website on the blood drives.

“Blood donation centers will be set up in various mosques, prayer centers, and public locations. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community invites everyone to set aside their differences and gather to commemorate the victims of 9/11 by participating in the campaign,” Latif Ahmed of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, said in the release.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is an international movement within Islam that was founded in 1889. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is the first American-Muslim organization, according to the release.
