Indian Prime Minister Narinder Modi met Mr. Azeem Sahib, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Poonch, a town in the Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir, last Friday.

The meeting took place when PM Modi visited the area for an election rally on November 28, 2014.

At the reception, Mr. Azeem was afforded the honor by the PM Modi to be seated next to him on the rally stage where Mr Azeem refreshed the Prime Minister about the teachings of Islam and Ahmadiyyat.

Prime Minister Modi is well familiar with the Ahmadiyya community, their message of peace, and many public service projects initiated by the community.

Prime Minister recognized the Ahmadiyya community by name during his speech, it was reported.

The last time a Prime Minister visited Poonch, it was Morarji Desai during his 1977-79 premiership of India.

'It has taken almost 40 years for a PM to come to Poonch,' confessed Modi, saying he has come with the intent and the message of development.

Modi promised he would help Jammu and Kashmir. “I will accomplish in 5 years what hasn't been done in the past 30 years.”
